Odin’s Tic-Tac-Toe starts with the classic 3×3 game and gives you eight more ways to challenge each other. Play across the room or across the world. Settle in for a live match, take turns when you have a moment, or share a screen for a friendly rivalry.
Completely free. No purchases, no third-party ads, and no tracking.
PLAY TOGETHER, YOUR WAY
Live online: challenge a friend and trade moves in real time.
Turn-based online: play at your own pace without being online together.
Nearby: connect device to device and play without a Game Center account.
Pass & Play: share one screen and take turns.
Online matches use Game Center. Turn notifications help you keep up, and a Home Screen widget on iPhone and iPad shows when you have moves waiting.
OPTIMIZED FOR IPHONE DUO
Open the phone and the board fills the inner display; close it and your game carries on, on the outer display, right where you were.
NINE WAYS TO PLAY
Three in a row is only the beginning.
Classic: the familiar 3×3 game. Make three in a row.
Ultimate: nine small boards form one larger contest. Your move determines where your opponent plays next.
Gomoku: make five in a row on a 15×15 board.
Drop Four: drop shields into columns and connect four horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.
4×4: sixteen squares, with four in a row to win.
5×5: more room to build threats, still four in a row to win.
Misère: turn the familiar rule upside down. Complete three in a row and you lose.
Wild: either player can place either mark. Complete a matching line of three to win.
Order & Chaos: both players can place either mark. Order wants five matching marks in a row; Chaos wants a full board without one.
FIND YOUR CHALLENGE
Play solo against four computer strengths: Easy, Medium, Hard, and Expert. Get comfortable with a new board, then raise the difficulty when you’re ready.
Want a nudge? The coach suggests a move and can point out an immediate win or a way to avoid an immediate loss. Undo during local play lets you try another approach, and every board includes a How to Play guide.
MAKE YOUR PROGRESS COUNT
Earn XP, climb the ranks from Wanderer to Grand King, and pursue 27 achievements and 15 Game Center leaderboards, including a leaderboard for each board.
Local games save automatically, so you can take a break and return to an unfinished game.
A PLACE AT THE BOARD
Crossed axes, round shields, parchment boards, and Longhouse gold bring the world of Odin’s Checkers to tic-tac-toe. Play on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Mac, with support for 50 languages, VoiceOver, and Dynamic Type.
Made by the team behind Odin’s Checkers and Squared². The only promotions you’ll see are for our own games.
Choose a board. Challenge a friend. See who wants the rematch.
A closer look
What’s new in version 1.3.0
New: optimized for iPhone Duo.
• Open the phone and the board fills the inner display; close it and your game carries on, on the outer display, right where you were.
• Stand it partly open like a book: the board stays on the flat half, the players and whose turn it is on the standing one.
• Video Instructions gain an iPhone Duo chapter, played on a Duo.
Also in this version:
• How to Play explains all nine boards, not only the one you are playing; on Apple TV its long cards read a step at a time and no longer grow when selected.
• Drop Four: the aimed column is outlined and its chevron lifts under your finger; no more faded shield in the landing well.
• Online and nearby: an invitation's Join and Decline never squeeze the inviter's words in a long language, and the search messages and the connection-lost banner change language with the app at once.
• Text on How to Play and in the Video Instructions' transcript draws exactly as laid out, in every language.
