Whether you’re knitting for yourself, family or friends, Sockenrechner creates personalised knitting instructions based on your measurements and your own stitch and row gauge. Plan your next pair to suit the wearer’s feet and your chosen stitch pattern.
From gauge swatch to finished toe
Enter your stitch and row gauge along with the leg and foot measurements. Choose your stitch pattern, cuff style, heel and toe. The app calculates the stitch and row counts and guides you through each part of your sock: cuff, leg, heel, foot and toe.
Not sure which heel or toe to choose? Sockenrechner suggests suitable styles based on your measurements and the selected foot shape. Accept a recommendation or choose another style yourself.
As much detail as you need
Choose the level of detail that suits your knitting experience:
• Detailed: Full explanations of the individual steps.
• Normal: Concise instructions with the essential information.
• Brief: Abbreviated instructions for experienced knitters.
Keep measurements ready for the next pair
Create profiles for the people you knit for and reuse their measurements for a new calculation. Simply enter the gauge for your new project. You can edit saved measurements at any time.
Find your favourite instructions again
Save completed knitting instructions in your archive under a name of your choice. Open them later, rename them, replace them or delete them. Saved instructions retain their original values, even if you change the person’s measurements later.
Create a PDF of your instructions to print or share.
Plan on your iPhone, knit from your iPad
With iCloud, your saved measurement profiles and knitting instructions are available on your devices signed in to the same iCloud account. Changes also appear while the app is open.

• Choose to keep the screen awake so your instructions stay visible while knitting.
• Apply an additional adjustment for your personal knitting tension, whether you tend to knit loosely or tightly.
• Consult the built-in user guide for help with taking measurements and using the app.
• Use the app and knitting instructions in English or German.
